We are nearing the end. It’s like we are almost there. Some of you might be contemplating how 2017 was for you. Good, bad, ok ok, or you might realize that it’s just over and that’s all there’s to it. While our sentiments may differ, 2017 hasn’t been a great year for Bollywood atleast. There were a lot of expectations from some of the movies because the cast or trailer looked very promising, but in the end they tanked badly. Some of them we didn’t even realize when the movies released and went off screens. We are nearing the end. It’s like we are almost there. Some of you might be contemplating how 2017 was for you. Not questioning the performances or storyline or music but these movies simply did not interest the audience or made them go to the theatre to watch it.
Here are the top 10 flops of this year.
Starring Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut, this one was a major disappointment. It is based on a love triangle story during the war. With such a powerful star cast, we had expected too much from this movie. However, it turned out to be completely opposite to expectations. The worst part being it was directed by Vishal Bharadwaj who has given us movies like Haider, Omkara, Maqbool and Kaminey!
2. OK Jaanu
Starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, this one bombed bad. Directed by Shaad Ali who has given us movie like Saathiya, this was way below our expectations. A modern love story set in Mumbai where guy meets girl, falls in love but has to choose between love and career. Only thing that made people survive was music by A R Rahman.
3. Begum Jaan
When it is Vidya Balan on screen, the expectations go sky rocket high. Her acting has been so class apart, it was a major disappointment seeing her in this movie. Though she was the only anchor for the movie, this one didn’t deliver and flopped. It’s based on the story of prostitutes and set in the India Pakistan separation.
4. Meri Pyaari Bindu
Starring Ayushman Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra this one falls in the category of loose storyline and bad screenplay. Though the music was decent enough, the performances of actors was not great. A story based on a writer writing about the woman he loved and her memories; tanked in all totality at the box office. Not expected from Ayushman and Parineeti who have given super performances in movies like Vicky Donor, Ishaqzaade, etc.
This one proves that even if the trailer looks awesome, the movie might not be the same. Starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon and Jim Sarbh this one was a total disaster. We wonder what the filmmakers were smoking while doing this one. The same star cast has delivered such brilliant performances this was just not expected.
6. Half Girlfriend
Another cliche love story, but this time by Mohit Suri, paired with pathetic performance by Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. Based on the book by the same title by Chetan Bhagat we knew this one was going to be disastrous.
7. Jab Harry Met Sejal
Something like this coming from Imtiaz Ali with star cast like SRK and Anushka Sharma, we have nothing to say here. No storyline whatsoever just pretty destinations of Europe which you can anyways see on YouTube for free.
Starring Sonakshi Sinha, it is a story of a journalist who is trying to achieve work life balance but her life drastically changes when she comes across a complex and an eye opening story. Too predictable and cliched again!
9. Haseena Parkar
Starring Shraddha Kapoor based on Haseena Parkar, the sister of Dawood Ibrahim, this movie harped on the criminal world in Mumbai. Pathetic and horrible acting obviously made it tank with nothing exciting or worth showing in the story.
10. Sarkar 3
Starring Amitabh Bachan and Amit Sadh directed by Ram Gopal Verma, we feel it’s time to stop making Sarkar sequels. Predictable storylines like this are good to watch only once.
This is not it. The list is long enough. There were movies like Munna Micheal, Bank Chor, Aa Gaya Hero, Machine, Firangi, etc. which we don’t feel deserves a place in this list! We really wonder what these people are smoking or drinking while making such pathetic movies.
Here’s hoping 2018 does not turn out to be a disaster like 2017.
Let us know how many of these have you watched and feel they should be put in the garbage bin 😛
