The trailer of the movie ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ has caused quite some stir in the country. It has rejoiced a few, BJP notably, and has infuriated a few, Congress, of course.
The movie is inspired by the infamous book which goes by the same name written by Sanjaya Baru, the Media Advisor of former PM Manmohan Singh. The movie depicts Manmohan Singh as a ‘puppet’ of the Gandhi family who took care of the seat until the heir, Rahul Gandhi was ready.
Anupam Kher has carried out his role (Dr Manmohan Singh) pretty well. He has successfully managed to pull the former PM’s mannerisms. Sanjaya Baru is being played by Akshaye Khanna and movie features many notable actors portraying famous political personalities of the country.
The movie is celebrated by BJP and they are seeing it as a boon ahead of the 2019 General Assembly Elections. On the other hand, the Congress Party are demanding a preview so that they can order the movie to be edited in order to avoid any sort of defamation. Also, the film is unlikely to be released in Congress-ruled states.
During his reign, Dr Manmohan Singh was often called as a ‘puppet’ by the media and the people. After the arrival of the movie, maybe we all would get an insight into the same.
The Accidental Prime Minister is Directed by Vijay Ratnakar and stars Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna, Suzanne Bernert, Aahana Kumra, Arjun Mathur, Vipin Sharma and Divya Sethi.
The film releases on 11th January 2019.
