Never a dull moment for Elon Musk…

The Tesla CEO warned all employees Monday that an employee of the company had caused extensive and damaging sabotage to the company’s operations.

“This included making direct code changes to the Tesla Manufacturing Operating System under false usernames and exporting large amounts of highly sensitive Tesla data to unknown third parties,” – Musk, adding: “The full extent of his actions are not yet clear, but what he has admitted to so far is pretty bad.”

The CEO, who warned that there may be “considerably more to this situation than meets the eye,” said they still need to determine whether the employee was working alone, with other employees of Tesla, or if outside organizations were also involved.

The culprit’s motivation, according to Musk, is that he wanted a promotion that he did not receive.

“In light of these actions, not promoting him was definitely the right move.”

Tesla is moving production to meet its target of producing 5,000 Model 3s weekly by the end of this month.

In his email to staff, Musk warned that there is “a long list of organizations,” including oil companies and Wall Street short-sellers, that “want Tesla to die.” The next few weeks will be “when outside forces have the strongest motivation to stop us.”

Musk, asked employees to be “extremely vigilant.” In an email, Musk said there had been a “small fire” Sunday at a Tesla facility and told workers to be “on the alert for anything that’s not in the best interests of our company.”
