It’s time for some great football in India as the captain of Indian football team, Sunil Chhetri appeals the football fans to come and support the Men in Blue at the stadiums. India has always been a cricket loving-nation as it is next to religion in India. But it’s time for India to come out in support of football, which is one of the biggest sports in the world.
India thrashed Chinese Taipei side 5-0 in front of a sparse crowd at Mumbai Football Arena. The official attendance figure was 2569, mainly thanks to the organized group called ‘Blue Pilgrims’ who were chanting and singing all evening.
Chhetri scored his third international hat-trick in front of a near-empty Mumbai Football Arena (MFA) stands, had a message for all fans across the country: turn up.
This is nothing but a small plea from me to you. Take out a little time and give me a listen. pic.twitter.com/fcOA3qPH8i

“To all of you who are fans of big European clubs and support European clubs with so much passion and sometimes you guys think that the level is not the same, so why do you waste your time? Agreed, the level is not the same, not even close but with our desire and determination, we will try our best to make your time worth,” said Chhetri.
“To all of you, who have lost hope or don’t have any hope in Indian football, we request you to come and watch us in the stadium,” the skipper added. “I mean it’s not fun to criticize and abuse on the internet. Come to the stadium, do it on our face, scream at us, shout at us, abuse us, who knows one day we might change you guys, you might start cheering for us. You guys have no idea how important you guys are and how important your support is.”
India will face Kenya in their second game of the Intercontinental Cup 2018 at the Mumbai Football Arena in Mumbai on June 4 at 8 pm IST which will be Chhetri’s 100th international match. Through social media, the Indian football superstar urged fans in India to turn out in great numbers to watch the match at the stadium.
Cricket stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Suresh Raina also urged people on social media to support our football team and their efforts on the field. Bollywood star Esha Gupta also tweeted in support of Indian football team saying to show love and support to our Indian Football team.
