The man who’s played Presidents, loveable prison inmates, and even God is the next man in Hollywood to be accused of sexual harassment.

Say it ain’t so…

The man famous for the sonorous voice may be in for a big fall with multiple women coming forward to level accusations of sexual misconduct against him.

In one incident, she said, Freeman “kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear.” He never successfully lifted her skirt, she said — he would touch it and try to lift it, she would move away, and then he’d try again. Eventually, she said, “Alan [Arkin] made a comment telling him to stop. Morgan got freaked out and didn’t know what to say.”

Eight women and eight other witnesses have corroborated the allegations. The incidents took place not just on movie sets, but also on the premises of Freeman’s production company, and the accusers claim that his business partner enabled it. This appears to be another one of Hollywood’s ‘open secrets’. His name was offered up by witnesses’ contacts when questions of inappropriate behaviour came up.

“He did comment on our bodies … We knew that if he was coming by … not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms, meaning not wearing clothes that [were] fitted,” another accuser explained.

Freeman responded to the allegations Thursday afternoon following the CNN report:

“Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone fell uneasy,” he wrote. “I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent.”

Freeman, being 80-years-old, might get by with an apology and a sizeable donation to the #TimesUp movement. If he chooses the humble route, Freeman can offer explanations of growing up in a different time, being slow to recognize inappropriate behaviours.
