The Reserve Bank Of India will soon release the new lavender coloured Rs. 100 note.
“The new banknote of Rs. 100 denomination will be of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series”. A new thing in the note is that it will have a motif of Rani Ki Vav – a heritage site located in Gujarat – on the reverse side. -RBI
This is the first note in India which is made of entirely Indian materials. “This note is designed in India, printed on currency paper made in India. The ink is made in India and even the security features have been made by Indian companies. This is a dream come true ,” said Kaza Sudhakar retired managing director of Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran (BRBNMPL), the branch responsible for printing bank notes.
Of course the Internet went crazy over the new colourful notes. Here are some of the highlights:

Dear makers of the board game #Monopoly:
Can you please change your currency – it looks suspiciously like the new Indian notes!
And stay off lavender, pink & saffron – perhaps they have stolen your colour scheme? https://t.co/3sYdSzt31V

Along with its distinct colour, the new Rs. 100 note features Gujarat’s Rani Ki Vav monument along with the Swachh Bharat logo and slogan. The note is slightly smaller.
