The top-rated messaging & most heavily used Whatsapp has received an update with lots of features improving user experience to all the beta testers which means soon we will be receiving an official update from the respective Tech Giant’s app stores.
Whatsapp has always added much required features which shows they care & listen to their users and their popularity is always at the peak. Let’s look at some beta features which we would want to see in the official update soon.
Storage management & complete handling has been introduced. To use this feature on Android, you need to be on the latest beta – v2.17.340. Head to Settings -> Storage Usage on your Android beta app and clear all the unwanted space-hoarding files easily. WhatsApp will let you choose message types, such as videos, text, images, GIFs, voice messages, etc. from specific chats – so you can delete exactly what you want and keep the rest.
Once you select the chat you want to clear, there will be a ‘Manage messages’ option at the bottom of the screen. This will let you select the content that you want to delete, for example, you can choose to delete all GIFs and videos from a specific chat to free up space, or just delete all the text messages and let the other content remain.
Frequent Bookmyshow users will enjoy it
BookMyShow, the company is the first Indian online ticketing brand to integrate with WhatsApp for Business. Users who book tickets on BookMyShow will now receive a message on WhatsApp with the confirmation text or an M-ticket (mobile ticket) QR Code, along with an email. This feature is part of WhatsApp’s new Business initiative which strives to help people connect with businesses faster.
Share more to show (you) care more
Whatsapp recently added the freedom to attach any type of document & send it via their platform. The prior restrictions allowed only specific file types to be shared. Feel free to share that .exe file link to your colleague or beta builds of your apps to the group of beta testers.
Simplified Way for editing / formatting
Currently to make text appear bold, users can type an asterisk before & after the line. To make the text appear italicised, the underscore characters need to be typed before & after the word. Whatsapp has changed this way & made it more convenient. In order to format the texts users will need to tap the overflow button ( with Bold,Italic & Underline options) which appear once you long press on a text.
It is among the slew of features WhatsApp has introduced this year, while some more are rumoured to be on the way. Among the biggest changes was the debut of the photo/video-based Status, in-app YouTube playback, two-step verification, text-only statuses in colour, photo bundling, video streaming, photo filters, night mode in camera, Quick Reply button, Pinned Chats, live location sharing, and verified profiles for businesses. Integration with UPI is also expected soon, but the most anticipated WhatsApp feature of 2017 will be the ‘Delete for Everyone’ option that will let you un-send messages.
