Just a few hours to go and the much-awaited 11th season of the Indian Premier League is all set to start from April 7. Like every year the action-packed tournament will start with a glittering opening ceremony at Wankhede stadium, Mumbai. This is a special edition of the IPL this year as the tournament completes successful 10 years. Like previous editions of IPL, there is a grand opening ceremony and several performances, fans will get to witness some mesmerizing performances by their favorite Bollywood stars.

The 11th edition will also see the return of two old teams – Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings who have a huge fan base. Also, there is another big change as Star Sports will be the new official broadcasting partner of IPL 2018. The only thing which will remain unchanged is the competitiveness of the teams and the enthusiasm of the fans.


The tournament will kick-off on April 7, 2018, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with the opening game of the season where the defending champions, Mumbai Indians will take on the Chennai Super Kings who are making their comeback after being banned earlier.

Opening Ceremony Date:

The IPL 2018 opening ceremony will take place a few hours before the opening match. It will take place on April 7 Saturday, at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Opening Ceremony Time:

The first match is set to start at 8 PM. The opening ceremony will start at 5 PM before the first match. It is said to be a 90-minute show which will end 15-minutes prior to the toss.

The Performers:


Every year IPL has stunning performances by A-list Bollywood stars. It is said that stars such as Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez will be performing in the opening ceremony. Latest reports claim that actor Ranveer Singh was supposed to perform at the event but due to an injury the actor pulled out of the event. Parineeti Chopra also recently pulled out of the event due to other professional commitments. A few reports claim that the BCCI is trying to rope in Hrithik Roshan to perform at the event.

A total of 60 matches will be played at nine venues across 51 days. IPL is one of the biggest tournaments in the world of cricket. So, wait and watch the tournament to see who lifts the IPL 2018 trophy.
