While the world is still surprised to know about the Sentinelese tribe, a tribe that practises civilisation never heard or known before, a Christian group demands the arrest of the ‘concerned authorities’ and bring them to justice.
International Christian Concern, an NGO that aims to draw attention toward Christians suffering throughout the world, wants the locals to be charged with murder.
A spokesperson for International Christian Concern said: “We here at International Christian Concern are extremely concerned by the reports of an American missionary being murdered in India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Our thoughts and prayers go out to both John’s family and friends. A full investigation must be launched in this-this murder and those responsible must be brought to justice.”
The irony is, even John’s family blame him for entering a no-go zone in an attempt to spread Christianity by risking his life.
Now, let’s discuss how would it be like to arrest the ‘concerned’ for the ‘murder’ of John Chau. First of all, the International Christian Concern said John travelled to the island to “meet with the Sentinelese tribes to preach Christianity,” but failed to mention that he did so illegally. The North Sentinel Island comes under India’s jurisdiction but the law or government do not involve any sort of political or geographical interference with the island or its residents.
A rule prohibits people from visiting the North Sentinal Island for the safety of the tribe and their own. Back in 2006, the tribe had killed two fishermen who were washed to the seashore after being lost in the sea. Furthermore, as per anthropologists, even something as silly as flu could kill the Sentinelese as they aren’t immune like the civilised.
Recently, the policemen who were monitoring the island from a 400-meter distance in an attempt to recover John’s body were welcomed with the Tribesmen intimidating them with bows and arrows.
Now just imagine getting a group of policemen over there, risking their lives and the lives of the Sentinelese, enquiring each tribal to find out the murderer in a language they don’t understand, getting him off the island and running court trials and sending him to jail. Seems feasible? Of course not!
Also, are they murderers or uncivilised humans who are unaware and afraid of the civilised world defending their territory?
