This definitely applies to college life.
Here are some of the things that your parents and professors tell you that you should never do, but in moderation can make college a memorable experience that you will always look back on fondly.
Not going to lectures.
Because all of the notes and PowerPoint slides are available online, you won’t see the point in actually sitting through a lecture. Sometimes you can bunk and enjoy a day with friends. (Don’t abuse this one, though)
Going out too much
Staying up late
Not studying until 5 days before the exam
Failing a subject
Thinking marks = success
They certainly don’t hinder it, I can assure you, but marks aren’t everything. Plenty of people who struggled at college and have later on started companies, worked on huge projects, and went on to have a very successful careers.
Wanting to change your degree but sticking with it anyway because people have expectations
I’m sure many of us can relate to this. We have you covered, just click here.
Spending your summer doing an unpaid internships
Life is fast. Life is fleeting. Life happens out of nowhere. In the chaos, we don’t want to regret the things we thought of but didn’t actually do. Is a life well lived if you haven’t tried all the things we should? A life lived without doing stupid things and making mistakes? No life at all. What’s the point if the journey ends without any real lasting experiences?
While no one can be mad at you for keeping your head in your books, also make sure you use this time to meet people, have fun, and make some of these mistakes. College should not be punishment or as something you just do to get a job. By societal standards, you’re still young and you need these few years to live, and take many missteps before you enter the “real world,” where missteps are not as easily overlooked.
Making mistakes is a part of life so go out there and live it up! For more stories about college and your move from school to the “cool” life, stay tuned to Dopewope! #AndeSeBahar
