Already in buzz, BJP’s CAA and NRC never fails to create controversies. Adding to the same, on Saturday, Twitter India was on fire over a toll-free number 8866288662 issued by the Bhartiya Janata Party to register support for the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act. It has asked its base to make “missed calls” to this number to express their approval for the legislation which critics say discriminates against Muslims.
However, in what appears to be a trick to make the CAA toll-free number go viral, many Twitter users, mostly BJP-supporters, made offers and attached the same toll-free number. Free data plans, Netflix subscriptions, meet singles who want sex, talk to Sunny Leone, and what not were a few offers made by BJP-Twitteratis.
Noting that vulgar claims are also being made, such as people can speak to lonely girls by dialing this number, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said the exercise should not be reduced to ridicule.
“Opposition leaders are doing politics over such a positive step, Patra said, adding that the BJP has worked to fix a decades-old issue like citizenship for persecuted minorities from neighboring countries by enacting the CAA.
