The Supreme Court has extended the March 31st deadline for linking the Aadhaar card to services such as mobile phones, insurance, and banking. The extension is until the Supreme Court is able to determines its validity.
In the immediate aftermath of the order, the decision seemed like a major relief to those who were worried about Aadhaars implications for citizen’s privacy. The government has, after all, been pushing the linking of Aadhaar to all of its services and reminding private companies to do so as well. Everyone with a mobile phone and/or bank account has received messages reminding them to link their sim card to Aadhaar.
This decision to extend resulted in an explosion on Twitter, the highlights of which we have put together for you.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah looks forward to the prospect of not receiving more messages.
Dear HDFC, Airtel & others please stop spamming me with emails/messages now. I’m not linking anything to #Aadhaar until I absolutely have to. https://t.co/EDjESAb1LV

So does Rajdeep Sardesai
Now that #Aadhaar linking has been extended indefinitely by SC, can I stop being spammed by messages on linking my bank account to my Aadhar number?.. by the way, I have already done it! 😀👍

Any service provider who sends threatening #Aadhaar messages hereafter should be publicly shamed. I include @AmexIndia and @ideacellular amongst those who tried to spread fear and panic https://t.co/zjFLtIiusj

Political satirist Aakash Banerjee
Good to know that SC is limiting #Aadhaar to its original purpose.
Now children can be born
People cannot be denied treatment
People can do banking.
Privacy can be maintained to some extent.
The govt. will not become the owner of our cumulative identity.https://t.co/6gtjQOSdcr— Akash Banerjee (@akashbanerjee) March 13, 2018

Youth Congress remains optimistic
The Judiciary comes forward in support of the citizens. Our country still remains of the people, by the people, for the people. No matter how hard the government tries. #Aadhaar https://t.co/6qtNd88RVB https://t.co/mXEje0rsTr
