While we are nearing the end, it’s time to look back and analyse how 2017 has been for the Bollywood. There were some movies that tanked badly and there were some which came out with flying colours, so it was an average year. While it wouldn’t be fair to judge the movies on the basis of their box office collection, we have compiled a list of top 10 movies based on the users rating on IMDb. We are very sure some of you might have not even seen these movies but mind you, they are all a class apart. If you haven’t watched them there’s still time to catch up.
We are still waiting for the release of Padmavati (not sure when this will happen) and Tiger Zinda Hai. Whether these two movies turn out to be exceptional, time will only tell.

1. Kadvi Hawa
Starring Ram Naresh Diwakar, Sanjay Mishra,Deep Raj Rana, Tillotama Shome this one has the highest user rating of 9.1/10. Based on the sensitive topic of Climate Change this one is an eye opener. With brilliant performances of these versatile actors this one is a must watch.
2. Secret Superstar
Starring Zaira Wasim from Dangal fame, Secret Superstar is a movie about a 14 year old girl who dreams to be a singer one day but is expected to curtail her ambition by her father. Will she succeed in achieving her dream? Watch it to see the brilliant performance by Zaira, a subtle reference and lesson about domestic violence and of course there’s Aamir Khan! Rated 8.4/10
3. Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana
With a rating of 8.3/0, this one is a simple love story starring Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda. The couple meets for arranged marriage and fall in love. However, a series of events before the wedding night leads the bride to run away, leaving the boy hurt and stranded. When it comes to on screen performance Rajkumar Rao is a star. A must watch for light hearted romance and drama.
4. Raag Desh
Rated 8.3/10 this one is a story about Indian Army Officers undergoing joint court martial in 1945. Starring Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh and Mohit Marwah this one is a must watch.
This Oscar nomination is a show stealer by Rajkummar Rao. 2017 has been completely his year where he rocked with his performances. Rated at 8.0/10, this one is a story of a government clerk on an election duty in the conflict areas of Central India. On a mission to conduct fair voting and fighting against communist rebels, it turns into a tryst for truth and a fight against unfair practices carried out by the government officials.
Rated at 8.0/10, Ajji is a story of a grandmother set to take a revenge when her grand daughter gets raped by a politician’s son. Starring Sushama Deshpande, Sharvani Suryavanshi, Sadiya Siddiqui, Manuj Sharma, Sudhir Pandey, Kiran Khoje, and Smita Tambe in major roles this is the movie which will keep you rooted and is definitely not for the faint hearted.
7. Hindi Medium
Starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar in lead roles, this one is rated at 7.9/10. A story of a couple from Chandni Chowk in Delhi, aspire to give the best education to their daughter and are ready to change their lifestyle as per Delhi’s elite class.How far will they push limits for their daughter? #MustWatch
A story of a 13 year old girl named Poorna an Adivasi, who becomes the youngest girl in history to climb Mount Everest. Rated at 7.9/10.
9. The Ghazi Attack
Rated at 7.7/10, this one is inspired by true events during the India Pakistan War in 1971. It is a story about an Indian submarine that stayed underwater for 18 days. It highlights the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi that ventured into the Indian waters to attack INS Vikrant on the port of Visakhapatnam. The film stars Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu, Kay Kay Menon and Atul Kulkarni.
Starring Rajkummar Rao, this one is a story about a man who gets trapped in a empty sky rise building without food, electricity and water and how he struggles to survive for a week. Super performance by Rajkummar Rao makes it definitely a must watch!
